About PrimeTime In 2006, the oldest members of the Baby Boomer generation began to turn 60. Today, there are 60 million Americans ages 55 and older; by 2030 that number will nearly double to 107.6 million. This generation of American retirees is better educated, in better health and more financially secure than any previous generation. With broad-ranging talents, skills, experiences and passions, today's retirees have the wisdom, energy and know-how to change our world in meaningful and lasting ways. The goal of the PrimeTime is to redefine retirement and advance civic engagement. Through the development of innovative programs, we invite older adults to give back and reinvigorate our education system. Our Programs
EnCorps is a unique public-private partnership dedicated to increasing the number of much-needed math and science teachers in California's public middle and high schools. In conjunction with the Governor of California, EnCorps partners with California companies to recruit, train and prepare employees with math, science, or engineering degrees to pursue careers in teaching in lieu of retirement.

The PrimeTime programs were inspired by social entrepreneur Mark Freedman's book entitled Prime Time: How Baby Boomers Will Revolutionize Retirement and Transform America. Freedman is the President of Civic Ventures, a San Francisco-based think tank dedicated to redefining the second half of life as a source of social and individual renewal. In 2007, Freedman released a new book, Encore, about the new phase of work being invented by Baby Boomers: the Encore Career.
